Images and Methods from Flash

These screenshots are from my final file on Flash, they help show the methods I used whilst making my animation. You can see that I've built my background around the animation frame. You can also see how I've added detail to the models using a graphics tablet to make fluid lines.

Here are some screenshots of the finished flash file. From this shot you can see some of the images and sounds in the library as well as on the frames and audio in the timeline.

The finished Product

Excuse the lack of player

I feel as a whole that my animation went relatively well. I found myself having a much greater understanding of Flash and its capabilities at the end of my project than when I started at the beginning though this came with it's own problems as I felt as if I could've done with going over all of my earlier scenes but I wasn't able to due to time constraints. I feel that I used all the tween methods available to me a number of times when each one was appropriate and can continue to learn about how each one works as I make more animations.

The main issue I have with my animation my soundtrack. I feel like certain lines do work well but others could do with either being altered (further than I knew how to) through software such as Audacity or scrapped altogether. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm not a writer. I believe I can come up with the concept for a story or game all well and good but I'm generally not good at writing appropriate lines for each character and their respective scene. That being said I did give it a go and I definitely feel the animation is better off with my lacklustre script than nothing at all. Ontop of my issues with the script I also believe I needed sound effects and a possible backing track. I attribute these downfalls to my rookie-status when it comes to producing films/animations. I believe with practice that I'll be able to find relevant samples more easily which'll lead to better backing tracks and hopefully a better animation.

Comments on my animation from my classmates:

"Loved it, the animation is tight and works well" - Hayden Read
"The animation quality was very good and the scenes flowed together well. The audio could've been improved" - Isaac Willis
"The art style of the animation is very funny and works well for the story" Tristan Greenhill

These comments basically go with my thoughts on the animation. It's nice to see that my overall efforts have gone down generally well though. That being said there's a lot I'm going to change in future projects. I'm going to spend more time working on my script to make sure the scenes flow well together and more time making sure all the audio is 'sound' and mastered properly.
